I started Small Business Bookkeeping because I watched too many hardworking business owners drown in paperwork — or worse, get blindsided at tax time. There's a better way.
Why I exist
Small businesses are the backbone of this country. As entrepreneurs you deserve a bookkeeper who engages with your mission, not only your finances, to provide perspective for better decision-making.
I built this practice differently. Every client works directly with me — an experienced entrepreneur who knows the value of good financial information, speaks plain English, and picks up the phone.
I'm not the biggest firm. I'm the one that shows up.

Alyssa Janney, MBA
Founder & Bookkeeper
Alyssa has been an entrepreneur since age 10 — so she knows firsthand what it feels like to pour everything into a business and still wonder if the numbers are working for you. A mother of two grown children, based in New Mexico, she holds a Bachelor's in Business Administration from Belmont University and an MBA earned in 2009. Her deeper mission is improving how we care for older adults — inspired by her own experience caring for her parents through dementia and her aunt through mobility challenges. She launched Small Business Bookkeeping to provide critical funding for that endeavor and to give fellow entrepreneurs the financial clarity they deserve: clean books, honest reporting, and real insight to make smarter decisions and build something that lasts.
